Community Helps Mom In Need Feed Family Of 12

A Hawaiian woman has been struggling to feed her family of 12 since she lost her job because of the coronavirus.

A woman in Hawaii who showed up six hours early to get in line at a food bank is getting help from the community to feed her family of 12. Herminia Urmatan was a housekeeper at the Hilton Hawaiian Village for 37 years until the coronavirus shut down the resort. Now she’s struggling to get food on the table for her large family after she and her children have lost their jobs.

Herminia arrived at 4am to get in line for a food distribution that started at 10am because she couldn’t risk missing out. And when word of her situation got out, people started stepping up to offer help. Within 48-hours, the community organized a food drive for her family. Now she says she had enough supplies to last a month.
