Body, Human Remains Found In Abandoned Vehicle In Eastern Washington

Authorities have one person in custody after they discovered an abandoned vehicle with a dead body and human remains in Eastern Washington, sources say.

Deputies with the Adams County Sheriff's Department responded to a reports of a vehicle with blood on the hood in Othello, according to KING 5. They found the vehicle Thursday (January 28) at 6:30 a.m. in the 2200 block of Charla Road.

Officials reportedly discovered one deceased person inside along with "possible" remains of other deceased people in the trunk of the vehicle. "Authorities say the victim's bodies are in such poor condition that they cannot be identified immediately," KOMO reporters said.

Deputies have arrested 28-year-old Mauricio Nava-Garibay on suspicion of first-degree murder and potential other charges, authorities said. He's being held at the Adams County Jail.

The Washington State Crime Lab are investigating further while deputies and other agencies work to solve the crime, authorities said. Deputies said they're not releasing details on social media "due to the nature of the case."
