Off-Duty Cop Saves Choking Baby While Driving Home

An off-duty cop in California was on the way home from the movies when he stopped to save a life. San Pablo Police Officer Gilbert Troche says he was driving with his family when he saw a hysterical mother holding her baby on the side of the road in Livermore.

He jumped out of his car, ran over and the mom handed him the baby. Troche says the infant’s cheeks had turned blue and he performed back thrusts and had the mother do a finger sweep of the baby’s mouth to remove anything. About two minutes later, the baby was breathing again, thanks to this officer.

“Officer Troche’s heroic actions are nothing short of a miracle and we are extremely proud to have him as a member of our Police Department,” the San Pablo Police Department writesin a Facebook post. “His quick thinking and decisive action no doubt saved a life.”
