Bus Driver Saves Girl Walking Alone On Busy Road

Earlier this summer, a bus driver in Norfolk, Virginia, was on his regular route when he became a hero.

Kelvin White, a bus operator with Hampton Roads Transit, was heading into downtown when he spotted a toddler walking all alone in the middle of traffic.

He says the girl was about two or three years old and she was pushing a stroller with a stuffed animal in it down the road by herself. White stopped the bus, got the tot out of traffic and went door to door in the neighborhood to try to find the child’s mother or someone who knew her. He had no luck with that, but he brought the girl back onto the bus until police arrived. And soon after that, her mom was located and reunited with the toddler.

“I’m hoping it never happens again,” White says, “but I’m just glad the little girl is safe.”

His company is so appreciative of his act of kindness, they gave White a pair of Beats headphones.
