The city's newest bike and pedestrian bridge has been named "Ned Flanders Crossing," after the Ned Flanders character on “The Simpsons” tv show. The bridge crosses the I-405 freeway in Northwest Portland.
The show’s creator Matt Groening is a Portland native, so that may explain the odd idea. A plaque on the bridge has an image of Flanders along with his catch-phrase "Hi-Diddly-Ho, neighborinos." Groening has signed the plaque.
