Beloved Washington Eatery Named 'Oldest Restaurant' In The State

America is full of beloved restaurants that have been serving their communities for decades, and in some cases nearly as long as America has been a country. To take it even further, Washington has a rich history, both culturally and in terms of its culinary scene, so it's no surprise that there are plenty of historic establishments that have stood the test of time.

According to a list of the "oldest" restaurants around the country compiled by LoveFood, the "most historic restaurant" in all of Washington is Lockspot Café in Seattle, which has been around for more than a century. Lockspot Café is located at 3005 NW Locks Pl.

"Located just across the street from Seattle's Chittenden Locks, the Lockspot Café is considered Seattle's oldest restaurant. Marked by a folksy mermaid mural, it doesn't exactly fit in with the trendy restaurants in the Ballard neighborhood, but that somehow makes it even more appealing — after all, this place has been a fixture in the area for over a century. The Lockspot is rightly famed for its fish and chips, while the brunch offerings have been getting plenty of attention of late."
