A man visiting the Civil War battlefield at Gettysburg was trapped in a port-a-potty Friday when a tree landed on the john.
The unidentified man did not suffer serious injuries. However, he did have to spend part of his afternoon in a portable toilet.
Emergency crews cut through the tree with a chain saw and sliced open the portable toilet with a Sawzall. The fire chief says the man “was very lucky. It was a large tree, and it just missed striking him. It could have been very serious.” Though no one was injured in this Battle of Gettysburg, high winds wreaked havoc across the Mid-Atlantic on Friday, downing dozens of trees and power lines.
