Jesse Williams Leaving ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ After 12 Seasons

Jesse Williams is leaving "Grey’s Anatomy". The actor, whose two-year contract was up this season, will officially sign off in the May 20 episode, titled “Tradition,” of ABC’s medical drama. The news was revealed Thursday, as Williams’ former on-screen love interest, April (Sarah Drew) returned for an episode that will point Dr. Jackson Avery toward a fulfilling closure for the character. The episode set the stage for Jackson’s departure as he decided to take over his family’s foundation in a bid to help combat the Inequalities in medicine. In the end, Jackson will move to Boston — accompanied by April and their daughter, Harriet, to take over the Avery Foundation. The May 20 episode will follow Jackson as he resigns from and says farewell to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
