A gas station clerk opened fire on a suspect during a would-be robbery attempt, according to KOMO.

Auburn Police got a report of a shooting and robbery attempt around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday (August 2) at the Shell fuel station at 201 Auburn Way S. Officers arrived and found the body of a man who was shot at least once, authorities say. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials learned the man was armed when he entered the gas station. The employee pulled out a gun during the hold-up and fatally shot the alleged armed robber, according to police. No word on if the suspect pulled out a weapon before he was killed.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made. Police also didn't say whether the clerk, who wasn't identified, would face charges in connection to the shooting.

A similar incident went down in California recently. An elderly gas station owner fired his shotgun at a suspect armed with a rifle, and it was all caught on camera.

There have also been a string of shootings involving either homeowners in Washington, as well. Last week, a homeowner was arrested after shooting a man trying to break into his home.
