A Washington family is mourning the loss of a 19-year-old woman, who was killed by a falling tree during Friday (November 4)'s intense windstorm.
According to FOX 13, the tree sliced through a home near 56th Drive Northeast and 105th Place Northeast in Marysville. Reporters say the falling tree knocked the teen from her upstairs bedroom all the way down to the main floor. Neighbors remember the horror of that day, including the victim's parents screaming for help.
"All I hear is the father, ‘Please, help my daughter! Please, help my daughter!’" Sani Tala-Taina Sopi recalled.
"You could see the tree had come through the rear of the house, people were crying, finally realized there was a girl that was upstairs in the bedroom and now she's downstairs underneath the tree," Rodney Peterson told KOMO.
The Marysville Fire Department confirmed they rushed the woman to Providence Regional Medical Center. She was in critical condition at the time, but her parents later got devastating news about her death.
"With the Holidays coming up and this is what you have to deal with? Especially a child," Tala-Taina Sopi continued.
The Friday storm system brought high winds and heavy rains to Western Washington, leaving over 40,000 people across Puget Sound without power. The neighborhood where the 19-year-old died saw an entire row of trees topple over, damaging homes in various ways. Other areas saw massive amounts of snow and even car crashes from icy roads.
